Zone Conference & Progress!

My week was pretty good.
While teaching one of the members this week, Kieth, He sincerely thanked elder Tye and I for everything we Have done for him. I was very grateful especially because he doesn't talk a lot and is really shy. He is now receiving the priesthood this week and is on his way to serve in the group.
We also visited one of the families in our group this week. They live very far away. So, we spent half of our day visiting them. After getting to know them better and sharing a an uplifting thought, we came back to the main road to catch of a van, but there were none! So, after sheltering from the rain that came down, we had a stranger give us a ride halfway back home, then another one shortly after that took us home. It was amazing to see random people offer us rides in the rain. There was a blackout at the time too so, despite the pouring rain, blackout, and the lack of a van, The lord still provided a way home for us. Not to mention, we were still in on time. Just another tender mercy.

We also had zone conference this week. President and His wife came to our island.
Zone conference was awesome. The senior couple gave an amazing talk on "Charity" They are such wonderful people.
We also got fed a lot of good pizza for lunch!

Mathew has decided to be baptized this week! I am so excited because it will be my first, and I might leave the island next week. We are just praying that everything will work out this week, but if not, He will for sure be baptized next week.
It was his B-day yesterday, so we gave him some banana bread at church. He is a super cool guy. He has a true testimony and is excited to become a member despite the harassment of other at his school.

Happy Easter

Another good week,
We contacted a lady that tailors thing, so Elder Arzu and I got some pants hemmed for a discounted price. The lady is very nice, and we are continuing to see her.

The missionaries in Georgetown organized an Easter program for Sunday. That went well. we even printed off a signs to hang in town.
This week we haven't been able to see Mathew, only his little brother and mother. They are awesome people.
We also had a trade-off with my dad(Elder Nixon) and Elder Arzu. That was a lot of fun.

We also taught the Warren kids again. Joshua gave me a big handful of seashells he gathered in "Canouan" (One of the Grenadines) He also gave me a small chunk of a sea turtle shell, and coral as well. He is pretty cool. he was so excited to share his find with me. We have become really good friends with all of them.
Last night we, We had another short trade off with a newer missionary (Elder De Leeuw) He is super cool. We helped a family move out of their house. So we lifted everything into a big box truck then rode with them in the back of the truck with many other people to their new home. It was very late, so I am really tired today, But I never thought I would have the chance to help someone move on my mission because people hardly ever move here.
It was a good week. There is so much more that goes on, I only wish I could type it all. I love and miss you all back home.
Have a great week!

Pressing Forward...April 10, 2017 letter

Very good week for being a missionary.
We taught our best progressing investigator (Mathew) this week 4 times! Also, He came to church as well! We are seeing an awesome change in Mathew. Although we have pushed back His baptismal date 2 weeks, we feel he will be ready by then.

We also have been teaching the kids of the "Warrren" family. The lessons include Fransiska (17 yrs. old) and here two siblings "Joshua & Hannah" while their dad sits near by, but doesn't bother listening to us. He lets us come over because the kids want us to come. It is pretty awesome to see them pester us for a return date.
Fransiska has been listening to the the BoM audio and is now in Ether! We had no idea she was doing this, but she listens to it everyday traveling to and from school. We have been teaching her the Plan of salvation, and she has been asking some very advanced questions. She has many questions about the bible that her church cant answer.
We also attended her church for a youth activity, because Fransiska invited us, but It turned out to be a planning meeting.
I have pictures of Mathew and Fransiska, but not this week sorry.

Church Yesterday was incredible! We had a less active bare his testimony, and we could tell he was touched by the spirit. Many many many people bore their testimony despite our small group. Words cannot describe the spirit and love that was present in that church meeting yesterday.
I know and love this gospel. It has blessed my life and many others.
I love and miss you all back home.
Have an incredible week.

General Conference

The week was pretty good,
We continued to teach Mathew this week. He is doing so well! we also met and had a lesson with his mother "Annette" and his little brother too!
Mathew and His brother came to general conference and loved it! He has continued to feel of the spirit. It is so much fun to see him progress!
We also had alot of fun with a different "Annette' and her family. We made banana bread and peanut butter cookies. We did Book of Mormon charades! That was fun too!

We stayed in Kingstown for 2 days for General conference. I loved it so much! I cant wait to share some of those messages with our investigators! I t has been my favorite by far! The spirit was so strong. We had many members bus from Gerorgetown to come see it. Everyone loved it, even investigators!

While ending our night at a members house and their family, I was chatting with a teen named "pikachou"  outside on street, I heard and saw a small explosion in my preferably vision. I then saw a lady on the street screaming. Then, one of the wooden houses at the end of the street was covered in huge flames! Many people ran towards it and began pulling the woman away. The fire burnt an electric pole which caused bright electric flashes to light up the night sky. So, the closest fire truck is an hour drive away through the jungle and only the police showed up with some buckets and hands to help put it out. The fire was massive and hot. The first house burnt down within minutes, We decided to leave the area because there were electric sparks/flashes going everywhere. It was very sad to see this lady loose her home. We said a prayer and returned our apartment. We later found out, 3 house were burnt down, but no one was killed. The government has stepped in to rebuild these houses for these 3 families, and in the mean time, are rooming with neighbors, and additional family. The scene was horrific at the time, but we were all thankful no one was killed.
That was just a crazy thing that happened this week that was sad, But this week was still a really good week due to conference and the other events.
I love and miss everyone back home!
Have a fantastic week!
